HOCN'S 2025 Lead Safety Program Update
From January to April 2025, HOCN has:
- Reached nearly 100 families in Buffalo by providing education and resources on safe drinking water practices.
- Distributed 20 certified water filter pitchers to households identified as being served through lead service lines.

The filter pitchers we distribute are designed to reduce harmful contaminants such as lead, chlorine, PFOA/ PFOS, and microplastics, contributing to healthier communities and homes.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Lead exposure in drinking water poses significant health risks, especially for children and pregnant women. In Buffalo, many older homes are still connected to lead service lines. By providing certified water filters, HOCN helps mitigate these risks while broader infrastructure improvements are still underway.
