Clean Mobility Buffalo initiative to kick off with East Side Forward Expo this Saturday

Through workshops, project talks, and more, this free event will inform East Side residents how $10 million will be invested in clean transportation infrastructure.
There are those who feel that the continued social and economic rebirth and growth of the East Side depends significantly on the advancement of clean transportation infrastructure. Together, Clean Mobility Buffalo, along with an alliance of organizations including LISC NY, Heart of the City Neighborhoods, GObike, Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Coalition for Economic Justice, East Side Bike Club, Open Buffalo, and Reddy Bikeshare, are hosting East Side Forward Expo – an event that celebrates the investment of $10 million for clean transportation improvements throughout Buffalo’s East Side. The initiative is funded by New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) under the New York Clean Transportation Prizes Program. Participants in the Expo will enjoy fun, family-friendly activities, valuable demos and workshops, and informative presentations.
The future of the East Side is one that enjoys the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, with plenty of convenient, affordable, and green and safe public transportation options (clear crosswalks, protected bike lanes and trails, organized carpools, safely designated bus stops, etc.).
“Clean Mobility Buffalo represents a historic investment in expanding sustainable and accessible transportation options in a neighborhood that has been historically under-resourced,” said Tyra Johnson Hux, Western New York operations director for LISC NY. “Upgrading infrastructure and promoting cleaner transit methods is a key part of narrowing disparities, closing the racial wealth gap, and equipping underserved communities and their members to be successful.”
“ Being a voice for my people when it comes to new projects in our communities is very important for me,” said Crystal Davis, member of Clean Mobility Buffalo’s Neighborhood Leadership Group. ”I get as much information as I can and take it back to my community— I want us to have the same opportunities as people who live in other communities.”
