Deconstruction Begins on Prospect!
Heart of the City is pleased to announce the start of deconstruction on Prospect Avenue, between Hudson Street and Pennsylvania Street!
330, 334, 336, and 340 Prospect Avenue, were acquired by Heart of the City in 2010. It was just last October that HOCN, with the help of AmeriCorps volunteers, boarded up these properties. Buffalo ReUse also assisted in the process, donating beautifully painted boards to secure the windows and doorways of the vacant properties.
As part of revitalization efforts, Heart of the City will be demolishing 334 and 340 Prospect by the end of summer, and will rehab 330 and 336 Prospect in the fall. The two properties (with additional side yards) will then be sold to income qualified first-time homebuyers under our Home Ownership Provides Equity (H.O.P.E.) Program.
“We are very excited about this project and look forward to getting these houses ready for first-time home buyers,” says HOCN’s Housing Specialist Darlie Al-Haqq.
Be sure to pass by these properties and see the progress as it continues throughout the rest of the summer. To stay up to date on construction, follow us on Facebook!
