Your ZIP Code Shouldn't Determine Your Life Expectancy

We’re off to a strong start this year, already investing $662,848 into community programming! In the first quarter of 2025, Heart of the City Neighborhoods (HOCN) was determined to help at least 100 people with much-needed repairs and improvements that will keep families safely housed and strengthen the long-term stability of our neighborhoods.
We have come to believe through experience that the secret to sustainable communities is tenure — the longer people live in a community, the more demand it creates for better amenities, and the stronger that community becomes. The type of tenure doesn’t matter, regarding whether one rents or owns. As long as people stay housed, the demand for better education, food, health care, and recreation leads to a higher quality and length of life.
At HOCN, we believe that your ZIP code shouldn’t determine your life expectancy — and we strive to support this through dynamic programming and strategic partnerships.
