You're Invited to TWO Great Events This April!
Now that winter is finally breaking, we can’t wait to get back out into the community! This spring, we’ll be continuing our rehab work on 178 Whitney Place under our H.O.P.E. Program, as well as on various owner-occupied homes through our Minor Home Repair Programs. In addition to our regular programs, we’ll be celebrating National Fair Housing Month this April and are excited to announce two great events that we’ll be hosting- a Neighborhood Cleanup Day and our Happy Hour for Housing!
With the help of local community group Keep Our West Side Beautiful, the Neighborhood Cleanup Day will provide an opportunity for volunteers to give back to our Lower West Side community. Volunteers will work between Allentown and LaSalle Park and Porter Avenue and Carolina Street to collect trash and debris that winter has left behind on our streets and sidewalks. This beautification project will provide our neighbors with an empowering and clean start to Spring! Register to volunteer and learn more by visiting our event page here.
Our second gathering will be a cause for celebration- the 46th Anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act- the landmark legislation that prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, sex, (and as amended) disability or family status. Supporters can join HOCN’s staff and board members at La Tee Da Cafe to share a drink and learn more about affordable housing development in the Lower West Side. Whether you’re new to HOCN or a long-time supporter, we welcome you. Mark your calendars with the details by visiting our event page here.
We look forward to celebrating National Fair Housing Month with you by getting our hands dirty and sharing a drink. We can’t wait to see you at both events!
